pet
therapy training

On
27 July, 2002 Siam became an AKC Canine Good Citizen!
Siam
and I earned our Pet Therapy Certification through Create-A-Smile,
a national non-profit organization. She passed to a Level II and we
are now ready to visit the elderly in retirement homes, ill adults
and children in hospitals, at-risk teens and women in shelters. Siam's
good temperament and obedience make her a perfect dog for the job!
No one would know she started out as a problem child. She strutted
around in her uniform red vest all afternoon after gaining her titles.
A Therapy
Pet, or Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT), is a way to bring animals to
those who cannot have them due to their confinement and physical restrictions.
More importantly, Therapy Pets bring joy and happiness to those who's
days are filled with monotony and hardship. Over time, pet therapy
has helped severely emotionally and physically disabled become more
alert and agile through visits with animals. People who are not able
to communicate well are touched by interacting with animals, creating
the human-animal bond, which proves healing in physical and psychological
ways.
If you
are interested in your dog being a pet therapy dog
I can help you obtain the obedience needed for your
team (you and your dog) to pass with flying colors.
